Non-Invasive Ventilation Basics & Beyond

The workshop is organized by Prof Dr Rahul Pandit, the Chair of Critical Care at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, and Dr Arindam Kar, the Additional Director of Critical Care Medicine at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. Dr Ritika Sharma is the Organizing Secretary. 

The workshop is aimed at various healthcare professionals, including junior residents, medical officers, registrars, practicing physicians, anesthesiologists, postgraduate trainees in acute care, critical care, emergency medicine, senior nursing personnel working in critical care units, and respiratory therapists. 

The scientific program agenda includes lectures on various topics related to non-invasive ventilation. These lectures will cover the history and evolution of non-invasive ventilation, indications and contraindications, applied physiology and mechanical principles, options of non-invasive supports, modes and settings, possible problems and troubleshooting, and case-based discussions on when and how to use non-invasive ventilation.

Remembering Professor Luciano Gattinoni (1945–2024)

Professor Luciano Gattinoni, born in Milan on January 12, 1945, was a visionary figure whose groundbreaking research revolutionized intensive care and critically ill patient management. His pioneering work in lung-protective ventilation and extracorporeal gas exchange reshaped the treatment of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and mechanical ventilation, saving countless lives worldwide. A passionate leader and mentor, he inspired generations of clinicians and researchers. Gattinoni collaborated with top institutions and societies and was a dedicated advocate for evidence-based practice. His legacy of intellectual brilliance, leadership, and commitment to advancing medical knowledge continues to inspire the field of anaesthesiology and intensive care. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be preserved through our continued dedication to excellence in research, education, and patient care.
